Informant #95986: I believe that corporal punishment doesn't teach children the reason why their actions are wrong, just teach them not to get caught or they will get hurt. |
Informant #141072: It is unacceptable to take the life of another individual. People are not just products of themselves, they are a products of their surroundings. A habitat, no matter the spectrum, is a huge factor. The self is, theoretically, secondary. Smiting one for their actions does not erase the world that produced them. Killers, rapists, those who commit treason... people of the like aren't born with those qualities. Nor will they disappear or be swayed in another direction because of the capital punishments. These crimes are produced by passions, produced by the collective. An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind. People are beautiful, despite the ugliness that tends to be portrayed by us. |
Informant #168190: Some children will not benefit from the use of corporal punishment. It is up to the parent to discipline children according to their best interest. If a child will learn the same lesson from having a time out or from a discussion, I think it should be handled in that manner. For some children, they need to be punished by using corporal punishment to get the message across. It is up to a parent to find the method of punishment that works best for each particular child |
Informant #332774: If it is done in a planned, controlled fashion, it can be a good deterant. Better to not do something because you fear the spanking versus doing something wrong and getting talked to death....which sounds more effective? I feared being spanked. |
