Informant #95966: I don't think that it is a good way of reprimanding children, because violence is never a good way to solve anything. I think the best way is to take away something of high value, not to hit them, or abuse them in any way, shape, or form. Because honestly, by using physical punishment as a method of straightening them out, parents are only making matters worse, and can cause serious problems that could show up late in the future. |
Informant #96038: Corporal punishment is very extreme punishment, especially for a child. An adult shouldnt be punished using corporal punishment, and neither should children. |
Informant #97739: Some children, depending on how they are raised, don't need more than a good talking to to be set straight. Others however, may need more to actually be motivated to do something until it becomes routine to them. |
Informant #405164: Some children respond better with corporal punishment than others. All corporal punishment shall not b.e excessive or cause lasting physical harm to the child |

Informant #572982: I preferred being given the slipper (at home and even by a white teacher) to being shouted at. But I don't know what my sister thought. |
