Informant #1751: I do not feel men and women can participate together in professional sports. I do feel that men and women are capable of doing most, bt not all of the same jobs. Some jobs are physically too demanding for women. I do not feel the standards of a job should be lowered to keep women in. However, they should not be raiseed to keep women out. There should be a set requirement for the position and if the woman can meet it then she should be allowed to continue with it. As for the military I think males and females should have sepreate units. The military is a very physical job and a lot of times women are forced to become unfeminie in order to meet its standards. Plus they are put in uncomfortable situations when they are one of the feww women amongst hundreds of males. |
Informant #1772: Physical limitations have to be taken into concideration in professional sports. Gold if they can do it go for it. |
Informant #1774: I believe that men and women can participate together equally in most cases but there are some areas where strength is needed and men are sometimes stronger. |
Informant #1780: Politically we say that men and women have equal opportunities to the same job opportunities, but I've seen different. For example, a woman can run for president but we will never see one win the position. |
Informant #1784: somethings whether they be jobs, sports, military etc. may only be good for individuals and not everyone in the same catagory. |
Informant #1816: I believe that there are physical boundries that must be considered. |
Informant #1823: Depends on what the job is or what the nature of the job is in the military field. |
Informant #1894: They can do everything the same but are not given the chance |
Informant #1950: Except for dangerous to health situations |
Informant #1998: Well no matter how we feels as women our bodies are not built to do certain activities. |
Informant #2030: Women and men can participate in some things together, but not wear strength determines the winner, b/c men clearly have the advantage in those cases. |
Informant #2032: In anything that uses the mind and does not have to do with strength |
Informant #2124: While I do believe that men and women can do all jobs proficiently, I do feel that there are some professions where a man/ woman may be more suitable. |
Informant #2242: Women shold not fight in hand to hand combat |
Informant #2264: I believe that men and women are inherently different (not one better or worse, just different). Most men are physically stronger (notice I didn't say emotionally stronger) than most women. I believe that all the effort put into getting women involved in professional sports and military combat is misguided. |
Informant #2294: I was unable to choose a response because I don't think men/women can participate together in ALL sports, jobs or military units |
Informant #2295: If qualified means that they (women) are completely physically and mentally equals in the specific job/sports arena they are trying to involve themselves in then they should be allowed to participate. If they do not measure up in any way (similar to a man who would not measure up) they should not be allowed to participate. Special allowances should NOT be made especially in life or death jobs (i.e. firemen, police officers, military combat units). |
Informant #2328: I do not think women should see front-line combat or play on mens' sport's teams. |
Informant #2355: As far as certain jobs and sports are concerned...I think that men are better suited. Women can participate, but I don't think there could be equality with men due to the physical factor. Men, for the most part are just physically stronger. |
Informant #2357: I think I believe more in equity, than equality I think due to certain difference btw men and women equality is not possible in all areas however equity is |
Informant #2449: Women and men can always participate together in anything. However, women and men cannot always compete against one another. |
Informant #2450: I think professional sports and some jobs require a certain amount of physical strength (i.e. firefighter, football player, etc.). Men, in general, are physically stronger than women so they will never be able to compete equally in all sports/jobs. Also, I think the female role of giving life and nuturing the family is significant enough that women should be exempted from front-line military duty. |
Informant #2574: Some sports too |
Informant #2638: while i do feel that women can do anything a man can do..in sports, a woman might get hurt playing with a man, who's natural body type enables them to be stronger..and i feel like they can participate together in most jobs, but not all |
Informant #2671: Don't necesarily think it is important to see female linebacker. Also, it is no credit to women for them to be sent into combat to kil women, babies and men. |
Informant #20136: There are things that men are better at and things that women are better at, but I would not use the words "ANY" or "ALL" because men and women are not 100% equal. |
Informant #29654: By qualified, do you mean they have the same merit and abilities? |
Informant #82172: only men should be in combat out of respect for women |
Informant #101749: I do, however, think that men and women should have separate sports leagues because men are physically advantaged for athletic activity |
Informant #102188: women may not be as good when job requires strength like cement work men not as good when involves surgot |
Informant #309364: Sports may differ because there is such a physiological difference |
Informant #433339: I think having men's and women's leagues for sports is appropriate. |
