Informant #1765: As a white feminist, I'm uncomfortable telling women of color what they SHOULD or SHOULD NOT DO.

Informant #1767: that statement is entirely too general. some feminists may choose to give more attention to certain issues, and they have every right and responsibliity to do exactly that.

Informant #1775: It's tough fighting both areas, but it is necssary. I'm tried of hearing women described as "ho"s and bitches and seeing women and their parts (breast, legs, etc.) as part of videos to show viewers how "masculine" the rappers and singers are.

Informant #2028: Women of color have been encouraged to deny the dual subjugation we endure under both sexism and racism. This has allowed black men and white women to focus the spotlight entirely on themselves.

Informant #2178: If feminists don't give equal regards to both racism and sexism, then they will have a lesser opportunity to end either of them.

Informant #2213: As Alice Walker says, "Womanism is to feminism as purple is to lavender." I identify myself as a womanist, not a feminist.

Informant #2242: It would be too much work to do this. I think feminist who aren't White should leave their feminist movement and start a non-White feminist movement.

Informant #2345: No one can fight EVERY battle.

Informant #2356: If a feminist of color focuses solely on gender equality, women of color may fail to reap the rewards/benefits of the feminist of color efforts. A singular focus may lead to the exclusion of all the women that one's efforts intended to benefit.

Informant #2508: I think in this country a black woman is black first and woman second. A white woman had many advantages that blacks do not. Untill black people are veiwed as people and not black people then black feminist can never give equal attetnion to feminism

Informant #2671: Women of color are too often used as last minute tokens for white feminist organizations. Women= white women.

Informant #2732: Women of color are considered to be a double threat or not one at all. White women don't have to prove their intelligence on the same level as black women or any other woman of color. A white women is looked at as being 'just' a woman by some. Where as a black women is a BLACK woman not 'just' a woman.

Informant #26907: Racism and sexism are both part of the feminist struggle, feminsts of color can fight both, without identifying specifically with one aspect. They should not have to choose issues (#7) just because they are feminists of color.

Informant #29654: sexism IS a form af racism ... you can't fight one and ignore another .. plus, speaking of women particulary, IMHO, both are discrimination

Informant #59036: This are two different problem. They don't have to, they are only allowed to.

Informant #71745: i believe the idea of racism is stronger than the idea of sexism because even if your a women and your plac and women have the same rights as men you still will be discriminated as colored

Informant #178029: I think that it is important for anyone to fight against both racism and sexism, however, I don't think that it has to be equal.
